Hello everyone~!

I was kindly asked by Lady-Yume to become a contributor to the amazing group, Glory-Be-Project, and as such, to write a periodical journal on what inspires me. This is intended to spread inspiration to others, and to encourage us all to keep becoming the best artists we can be!

Lately, my obsession with the French language has been rekindled, as I finally got my hands on an up-to-date French-English dictionary. (So beware of the bilingual poems that are coming your way via moi!) Not only is the French language pleasing to listen to, but it is like a drink of fresh water to the poet's pen; it is rich with encompassing phrases that contain entire ideas and stories, expressing complete emotions in just a few simple words.

For example, take the phrase l'appel du vide. When translated, this literally means "the call (or appeal) of the space"; or, more simply, "call of the void." Think about it. Have you ever mounted a tall building, or a bridge, and looked over the edge, knees weak, breath coming quickly? You're scared for you life, but then suddenly, you hear a little, menacing voice in your ear: Do it. Do it! Jump!

Okay, what? You begin to panic; you begin to worry that you are subconsciously psychopathic. But not to fear; this is a perfectly normal impulse. Humans get it all the time when they find themselves faced with a potentially dangerous situation. Like wanting to jump down a flight of stairs, just to see if you'll fly, or having the impulse to jump in front of a moving train, even if you've had a perfectly happy day. For more information about this phenomenon, check out this hilarious video (warning, there is some foul language, but the guy is British, so y'know): www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6nuxm…

French never ceases to supply me with inspiration. There are a few pieces that I have done in which I have striven to incorporate certain phrases, and I hope that you will aspire to do the same! Though don't stop at French; what language is it that inspires you?

l'appel du vide: the call of the void
folie à deux: madness for two
cri de coeur: heart's cry
chanson: song
la neige: the snow
raison d’être: reason to live

Try to use these cool phrases in your writing, or research for more! Below is a link to a little gif that will tell what rain sounds like in other languages! (Really cute and interesting!)

Happy creating~!

This definitely is inspired, got me thinking, especially as I'm a week and a half into learning Dutch!
